Changes to library card for University staff

As part of the introduction of a new library management system and the connection of all library users to the University's Identity Management System, special library cards for university staff will no longer be issued from September 1, 2025.
Instead, the CampusCard will be the only card accepted for all library services.

Important dates:

from September 1, 2025:
- CampusCard: Extension of the loan period for university staff to 3 years (with a one-time automatic extension for an additional 3 years)
- Application for special library cards is no more available

By the end of 2025: Closure of existing special library card accounts and transfer of all loans, reservations, requests and interlibrary loan credits to the CampusCard accounts (this will be done by the library).

This special card allows University members working in research and teaching at the University of Kassel to borrow items for an extended period of time, provided that the items are not subject to a usage restriction (e. g. reference holdings). The following groups of persons are entitled to use a Special library card:

The minimum period of employment is 5 months.

To apply, please complete the form below and send it by e-mail to the Nutzerservice, together with a copy of your employment contract or submit the documents at the service desk at your library location.
