Key competencies

Legal framework:

• Here you will find the framework requirements for key competencies in Bachelor's and Master's degree programs at the University of Kassel.

• For further details, please refer to your examination regulations.

Restrictions and conditions resulting from the examination regulations of the respective degree program must be observed when selecting courses and transferring credits.

Registration and advising:

• BA and MA students must provide evidence of their additive key competencies to the Examinations Office . If no certificate is issued by the provider of the course, this form can be used , which must be signed and stamped by the lecturer, stating the credits. A maximum of 6 credits per type of course can be recognized. The credit type can be found in the second column of the key competency table in the subject examination regulations. As a rule, at least two credit types must be covered if more than 6 credits are awarded for additive key competencies in the degree program.

Additive key competencies are key competencies that are to be acquired within the framework of separate and designated courses at the University of Kassel. They are not to be acquired in courses that are part of your own degree program, but should enable you to look beyond your own horizons and/or strengthen job-related skills.

Courses for additive key competencies are offered by the following institutions, among others:

• International Language Center

  Students can take advantage of a certain number of places on the free Studium International course offered by the International Language Center, subject to agreement between the Language Center and the department. The course fee must first be paid by students of FB 02 at the ISZ and will be refunded after the course has been duly completed. Further offers....

  Here you will find the courses bundled together again. Courses can be selected from other departments or according to areas of expertise.

Integrated key competencies are usually acquired automatically as part of your degree program after successful completion of certain modules (cf. examination regulations). 

Please note the criteria stated for recognition in your subject examination regulations. Passing the module (sub)examination is also a prerequisite for acquiring the integrative key competencies.
