NaHiTAs - Sustainable HighTech Asphalt: Pollutant and Noise Reduction with New Processing and Monitoring

funded by:

Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) - "Materials Innovations for Industry and Society - WING" on the topic "New Materials for Urban Infrastructures - HighTechMatBau"

Project duration:

July 2015  until June 2018

Content and goals

The durability of asphalt pavements and thus the service life of road pavements influence the costs incurred over the entire service life of the structure (maintenance and settlement as well as renewal) and the environmental impact of the pavement. The durability of asphalt as a construction material is influenced to a large extent by the aging behavior of the binder bitumen and the adhesion properties between bitumen and aggregates. Thus, as part of the overall NaHiTAs project, in which innovative construction materials are being designed to reduce pollutant and noise emissions, their effects on aging behavior are to be determined.
