Bicycle parking

With the growing importance of cycling, an often underestimated question is also coming into focus: Where and how can bicycles be parked safely and conveniently? After all, good parking facilities are a decisive factor in whether people use bicycles in their daily lives.

Currently, suitable infrastructure is lacking in many places. Bicycles are frequently parked in a disorderly manner in public spaces, which not only impedes the flow of traffic but also impairs the quality of stay in cities. At the same time, requirements are increasing – for example, due to new bicycle types such as e-bikes or cargo bikes.

Our project starts right here: We analyze what requirements modern bicycle parking must meet, what solutions already exist, and which approaches have proven particularly effective. To this end, we examine international best-practice examples and investigate various forms of bicycle parking – from simple parking facilities to innovative parking systems.

The goal is to develop concrete and transferable concepts that support cities in systematically improving bicycle parking. In this way, we contribute to sustainable mobility, strengthen cycling, and simultaneously increase the quality of life in urban areas.
