Working Together to Make Cycling Safer and More Attractive

The Department of Cycling and Local Mobility at the University of Kassel, in collaboration with other departments, is conducting research on how people move around by bicycle and what makes cycling safer and more enjoyable. To this end, we regularly conduct real-world experiments, bicycle simulator studies, surveys, and other research projects.

For our research, we are looking for people who would like to support us in this effort.

With a one-time registration, you can be added to our participant pool with no obligation. If a study is a good fit for you, we’ll notify you by email. You decide for yourself each time whether you’d like to participate.

You decide for yourself each time whether you’d like to participate in a particular study. There is no obligation to participate.

What data is stored?

To get in touch with you, we collect your first and last name as well as your email address. To initially identify suitable experiments, we also collect demographic information, specifically gender, year of birth, and ZIP code. In addition, we ask for a few bicycle-related details, such as whether you ride a traditional or electric bicycle. This allows us to contact you specifically and only about experiments that are relevant to you.

Your decision matters

Registration is voluntary. You may withdraw your consent at any time without providing a reason, effective for the future. Until then, your data will be stored for no longer than five years after registration.

If you are invited to participate in a specific study, you will receive further information about the respective research project. You will then decide for yourself whether you would like to participate. If necessary, separate consent will be obtained for participation in the respective study.

Who works with the data?

Initially, access to the data is limited to employees in the Department of Cycling and Local Mobility who are responsible for the participant pool. For research on cycling, contact information within the University of Kassel may also be shared with the following departments to help identify participants:

Intelligent Embedded Systems (IES)
Communication Technology (ComTec)
Transportation Planning and Transportation Systems
Public Law, IT Law, and Environmental Law

This information is shared exclusively for the purpose of identifying suitable participants for relevant research projects.
