Project objective

The aim of the project is to open up opportunities for farms (organic and conventional, with a focus on livestock farms) through the production of nuts and mushrooms as healthy and climate-friendly sources of protein. Target group-oriented, low-threshold and in-depth training courses are offered with a strong regional network. This achieves both capacity-building on the farms and the consolidation of the training courses and networking.

Shaping knowledge transfer on walnuts, hazelnuts and edible mushrooms

Nuts and mushrooms offer opportunities for new business sectors and are in demand for regional marketing. Trees contribute to climate adaptation in the landscape. The cultivation of mushrooms can represent a sensible conversion of stable buildings.

Together with stakeholders from the respective sectors, we would like to further strengthen existing activities in the NuPIWi project and develop further ideas for knowledge transfer. We would like to provide support for walnuts, hazelnuts and edible mushrooms,

  • find out what is suitable for individual farms,
  • get a taste of new business sectors,
  • facilitate exchange with local farms (regional, national and EU),
  • impart in-depth knowledge over the course of the year,
  • offer opportunities for exchange on current challenges, including for experienced businesses,
  • to promote value chains and the
  • networking of research, advice and practice.
