Heat transition Kassel

Development of an overall concept for a heat supply without fossil energy sources

Funding source

Brief description

The implementation of a comprehensive heat transition in the city of Kassel requires the development of an ambitious municipal heat planning. It should be the basis for action in shaping further development as well as the basis for decision-making for future developments. It is based on a GIS-supported recording and updating of the energy status of the buildings and infrastructure, the current and future energy requirements in the heating sector as well as the currently and potentially available energy sources and their geographical relationships to each other. On this basis, district-specific energy efficiency targets, technical optimisation options and district-specific development targets for heat supply with regard to heat sources, their coupling and the infrastructure (e.g. supply networks) and, as a consequence, development areas are to be determined.
