Body composition measurement

Why estimate when you can measure?

Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA for short) is a proven method for measuring your body composition. The measurement results give you an insight into your muscle mass, your body fat percentage, your cell health and your basal metabolic rate, among other things. The BIA is particularly valuable as part of a dietary change. It is also an informative companion when optimizing your physical training.

In a final evaluation meeting, we will explain your measured values to you and give you individual recommendations for exercise, training and nutrition based on them. Let's find out together what's inside your body.

Further information

When should a BIA measurement be carried out?

  • To monitor health, fitness and training progress
  • Before any diet or weight-altering measure
  • To achieve and maintain the desired weight
  • To optimize training

How does the BIA measurement work?

The measurement is carried out according to medical standards while lying down, with electrodes attached to the foot and hand. The electrodes generate an imperceptible and harmless alternating current that is passed through the body. The measuring principle is based on simple physical laws and makes use of the different conductivity of body tissue. This means that different resistances are measured, which provide information about the body composition. The measured resistances are used to determine the measured values, which provide information about the composition of your body, your nutritional status and your cell health.

What should be considered before the measurement?

  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol 12 hours before the measurement
  • No intensive training or other strenuous activities 8 hours before the measurement
  • 2 hours before the measurement, avoid heavy meals
  • Empty your bladder shortly before the measurement
  • remove all metallic materials if possible

Who is the measurement not suitable for?

The measurement is generally suitable for everyone. However, the BIA should only be carried out if you are not pregnant and are healthy. In the case of acute illnesses (e.g. gastrointestinal or flu-like infections), a BIA is prohibited as they falsify the actual body composition. If you are wearing a medical implant, e.g. a heart pacemaker, the BIA must also not be carried out.
