Praktikanten bieten wir im Anschluss an das Projekt bei geeigneten Voraussetzungen die Möglichkeit zu einer Examens-/Bachelor-/Masterarbeit und/oder eine längerfristige Anstellung als studentische Hilfskraft. Welcome to the web pages of the Professorship of Empirical Educational Research with an Emphasis on Instructional Quality, School Effectiveness, and Evaluation in Education. On the following pages we would like to introduce you to our team members and their current research projects.
Every student who reaches grade 10 has received about 8.000 to 10.000 lessons in school. In addition, thousands of hours are spent at the upper secondary level, in vocational schools, and at universities. It is therefore of particular importance for the development of young people to examine the conditions necessary to enable quality learning.
The Professor’s team, led by the Professorship of Empirical Educational Research, places an emphasis on Instructional Quality, School Effectiveness and Evaluation in Education. It examines teaching and learning processes as well as the quality of educational programs. Our team not only conducts research projects in schools, but also at universities and within in-service training. In doing so, we apply different research methods such as videography, questionnaires, tests, and qualitative interviews. Our research goes beyond the assessment of current practice. We also investigate systematic interventions with the goal of improving educational programs. At present, we are investigating the quality of lessons given at primary schools and in higher education. Furthermore, we are carrying out evaluation studies in the field of teacher education and undertaking intervention studies in schools and further education. Most projects in our department are located at the intersection between educational science, teaching methodology, and pedagogical psychology. They are financed by various third-party funding agencies. We maintain close contact with our research partners in educational institutions.
