Site selection days

In accordance with the Site Selection Act, a "participatory, science-based, transparent, self-questioning and learning process" has been used in Germany since 2017 to determine a "site with the best possible safety" for the final disposal of the high-level radioactive waste produced in Germany. The "Site Selection Days" series, organized by German universities in cooperation with the Federal Company for Final Disposal (BGE), takes into account the special role of science in this process. The series of events serves the scientific exchange on the technical issues relevant to the procedure with the expert public and the interested public.
