Collections

The collections of the UniArchives form the historical memory of the University of Kassel, which was founded in 1971 (until 2002 "Gesamthochschule Kassel"). The collections include documents from the committees, the Central Administration and Central Facilities as well as the Faculties and other research institutions. The responsibility for the sources of the semi-autonomous art college is a unique feature of the UniArchives throughout Germany.

This core collection is supplemented by estates and collections. In addition, the UniArchives holds the collections of the following predecessor institutions:

  • The Higher Technical College for Social Work in Fürstenhagen
  • State Higher Business College
  • German Engineering School for Foreign Agriculture
  • Max-Eyth-Schule, School of Engineering for Agriculture, Witzenhausen
  • State engineering school for mechanical engineering
  • State Engineering School for Civil Engineering
  • Pedagogical Institute
  • State College of Fine Arts
  • State School of Arts and Crafts
  • Work Academy Kassel

In total, the collections of the UniArchive comprise 700 linear meters (as of 2024).
