The collections of the UniArchives from the historical memory of the University of Kassel, which was founded in 1971 (until 2002 "Gesamthochschule Kassel"). The collections include the committees, the Central Administration and Central Facilities as well as the Faculties and other research institutions. The responsibility for the sources of the semi-autonomous art college is a unique feature of the UniArchives throughout Germany.
This core collection is supplemented by estates and collections on core university topics such as sustainability. In addition, the UniArchives holds the collections of the following predecessor institutions:
- German Engineering School for Foreign Agriculture Witzenhausen
- Protestant Seminar for Social Vocational Work
- Pedagogical Institute Kassel
- State Engineering School for Mechanical Engineering Kassel
- State Engineering School for Civil Engineering
- State College of Fine Arts
- Kassel State Higher Business College
- State School of Arts and Crafts.
In total, the collections of the UniArchive comprise 700 linear meters (as of 2024).
