INCHER & Zell Research Colloquium:"Between hype and reality – Teaching and learning with and about AI in (science) education"

Lecture by Dr. Marit Kastaun
The growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming teaching and learning and brings new challenges for (science) education. AI can be both a tool for learning and a topic to learn about, which requires rethinking educational goals in an AI-driven world. This presentation brings together theoretical ideas, research findings, and classroom experiences to explore the opportunities and challenges of integrating AI into science education. Using examples from current research projects — such as developing a machine-based corrector for scientific hypotheses (SHIFT, PRONET-D) and using image-generating AI to work with students’ conceptions — both didactic and technological perspectives are discussed.
