INCHER & Zell Research Colloquium: "Generative AI in science. How is research practice changing?"
Lecture by Dr. habil. Anne K. Krüger (Weizenbaum-Institut e.V., Forschungsgruppenleitung „Reorganisation von Wissenspraktiken“, Berlin).
Abstract: Since the release of ChatGPT in November 2022, there has been an ongoing debate about the influence of generative AI on the academic system and the practices of researchers. Expectations for this technology range from supporting research practice to opening up entirely new ways of knowledge production. Against this backdrop, this talk discusses first findings of the ongoing research project “Generative AI in science. How is research practice changing?”. The project analyzes how generative AI is being integrated into the academic system at the level of research practice in different disciplines, and what needs, opportunities, and consequences for scientific knowledge production arise from this integration.
