They are now firmly established in working life: In the event of difficulties at work or on the way to achieving self-imposed goals, trained coaches support their clients in solving problems independently and in further developing their behavior and attitudes.the University of Kassel is now training coaches for students. They can help students "from the very first low" to identify the causes of problems and initiate solution processes in order to study effectively.

In one-to-one meetings, the ProStudium coaches work with students to find ways of overcoming challenges during their studies. The aim is not to catch up on material, but to improve individual study skills. "For example, students work on reducing anxiety, getting things done instead of putting them off forever or building up a stronger resilience to stress," explains project coordinator Dr. Monika Bartkowska. Unnecessary dropouts could be prevented.

More than a dozen ProStudium coaches have already been trained at the university this year; up to 20 more are to follow. These are permanent teaching staff for special tasks and academic staff, as well as permanent administrative and technical staff in individual cases, who are trained for their tasks by experienced teaching coaches at the Teaching Service Center. The coaches are available to students directly in the university's departments

There are still two places available in the last training course at the Teaching Service Center, registration deadline is 15 December 2024.
