Take part in saving energy

Ladies and gentlemen, dear colleagues,
In the winter of 2023/24, I addressed you with the request that we all pay attention to our energy consumption and, in particular, avoid unnecessary heating. That was a great success.

Now I am asking you again. Unfortunately, energy consumption has risen noticeably since then. This costs money that is not available elsewhere.

In the winter of 2023/24, we jointly saved around 22% on heating energy, adjusted for weather conditions. In addition to technical and organizational measures, turning down the heating in unused rooms has contributed to this success. However, the initial figures for the current heating period show an increase in energy consumption, so I would ask you all to pay a little more attention to saving energy during the remaining cold days.

Please make sure that the room temperature in offices does not exceed 20 degrees Celsius. If you leave the office and nobody uses it in the following days - for example due to mobile work or vacation - please set the thermostat to "moon" (approx. 1.5 on the scale). One exception is the central administration building at Mönchebergstrasse 19, where the newly installed automatic temperature reduction system is a pilot project.

We can further improve the energy balance with small measures, at the desk, in the seminar room and in the kitchenette. Please take a look at the Green Office checklists and energy-saving materials. If you have any questions or suggestions, please get in touch. The e-mail address for this is: EnOpt[at]uni-kassel[dot]de.

I hope for your understanding and broad support. Thank you very much!

Best regards
