Workshop "Nested markets and the question of trade - Modes, potentials and drawbacks of promoting sustainable agriculture in crisis"
We are excited to invite you to an engaging workshop organized by the Section for International Agricultural Policy and Environmental Governance and the DAAD Exceed Global Partnership Network (GPN), to be held in Witzenhausen at the University of Kassel. The workshop “Nested markets and the question of trade” suggests that agroecological markets tend to be nested (territorial) markets, which thrive on (newly established) connections of stakeholders and follow a different logic and management approach than conventional, global agricultural markets. However, it seems difficult to scale these qualities and conditions in the context of standards and the governance of the global food system. The workshop aims to discuss recommendations for alternatives to the current normative and institutional parameters around which trade is structured and legitimized. It is to provide an outlook on potentials and hindrances of promoting agroecological nested markets in the context of the reconfiguration of trade regimes.
You can expect inspiring contributions by experts and professionals from around the world, debates, food & drinks!
