High quality in studies and teaching, good framework conditions for studies (QuiS)

As part of the Hessian program "High quality in studying and teaching, good framework conditions for studying" (QuiS), the University of Kassel will implement several projects in the years 2026 - 2031, in particular

1. In accordance with its development plan and its target agreement with the state of Hesse, the University of Kassel has driven forward the further expansion of its profile in the field of sustainability research and teaching in recent years and established a comprehensive range of courses in the field of sustainability. With the support of the QuiS program, several new sustainability-related degree courses with a target of 250 places per year have been established and additional staff positions have been created at the Kassel Institute for Sustainability to coordinate this range of courses.
2. One of the aims of the University of Kassel, as the only state university in North Hesse, is to give students with heterogeneous educational biographies access to an academic education. In order to familiarize these students with the demands of university life, to prepare them for independent learning and independent organization of their studies, to support them with any obstacles and difficulties that may arise and to counteract possible reasons for dropping out, the university has developed an offer for students as part of the QuiS project "ProStudium - subject-related educational coaching", which supports these goals and has trained coaches in the Faculties for this purpose.
3. The aim of the "plusMINT" study program supported by QuiS funds is to prevent students from dropping out or changing subjects and to increase the proportion of women and other underrepresented groups in STEM subjects. Coordinator of the offers and support for students is essential.
