University Advisory Board

Tasks and Responsibilities of the University Advisory Board

The University Advisory Board facilitates the University’s development by voicing societal and professional expectations towards the university and by promoting the use of scientific knowledge and artistic contributions.

The University Advisory Board has the right of initiative regarding fundamental matters of the university. The University’s strategic plan has to be approved by the University Advisory Board. It provides recommendations on planning study programs, evaluation procedures, agreements of objectives, knowledge transfer, as well as on adequate and efficient administrative processes and management of funds. The University Advisory Board comments on issues pertaining to the University's Basic Statutes, accountability reports, budget planning, the introduction and termination of study programs, and the faculty structure of the university.

The University Advisory Board consists of up to ten members from the business and professional fields, academia, and the arts. Half of the members are nominated by the University and half by the Hessian Ministry of Higher Education, Research and the Arts. The latter is also responsible for appointing the members.
