SHOSTA-Internship

  • The SHOSTA study program stands for "Short Stay Abroad", which means "short international stay".
  • This scholarship program to support study-related stays abroad of short duration was created by the University of Kassel to close funding gaps of other scholarship programs (ERASMUS+, PROMOS, etc.).
  • The duration of an internship, which can be financed by SHOSTA, should and can last 4-6 weeks
  • You need a confirmation of the internship institution / an internship contract signed by both parties for the application. This must indicate the type of activity, the duration of the internship and, if applicable, the intern's salary.
  • Applications are open to students and doctoral candidates.
  • International students who are also pursuing their degree at the University of Kassel can also apply (stays abroad in countries of origin are unfortunately not financed).
  • The approval and amount of funding is decided by a selection committee
  • Deadlines: 15.11. (funding period: January - June) and 15.06. (funding period: June - December of each year).
  • Applications are possible even if you are already abroad
  • Double applications (PROMOS + SHOSTA) are not possible.

Erasmus+ Internships

  • You can receive an Erasmus+ grant to contribute to your travel and accommodation costs. Additional funding is available for internships. The amount of the grant depends on the cost of living in your country and in the destination country, the number of students applying for a grant, the distance between countries and the availability of other grants.
  • Your internship should last a minimum of two and a maximum of twelve months in order to be funded by the Erasmus+ program.
  • By the way, you can do Erasmus+ internships after the end of your studies (within one year after that) and get funded, but you should apply for funding already in your last year of studies.
  • Erasmus+ internships can also be combined very well with (Erasmus+) study stays. For example, if you would like to stay longer on site and/or get to know a great institution, company or interesting association during your semester stays
  • Erasmus+ internships can be carried out in any organization in an Erasmus+ Program Country (exceptions are EU institutions, bodies and agencies).
  • The amount of the grants and the fixed exchange rates between Program and Partner Countries can be found in the Erasmus+ Program Guide.
  • Your complete application should be received by the International Office two months before the start of the internship. The internship institution must already be known. If this is not the case, please contact the International Office directly!
