Dr. Frauke Banse

I have been working as a teacher for special tasks in FB 05 since 2016. I have been a member of the staff council since 2024 for the union list (ver.di member), representing the academic employees. Of course, I am also available for all other colleagues. As Chair of the Staff Council, in addition to the general coordination of our work, I see the strategic development of the Staff Council's work as one of my main focuses. My own thematic focus lies in the areas of public relations work, pay grading, collegial conflict counseling, abuse of power and the removal of fixed-term contracts.

My aim as a staff council member is to support colleagues in working under good conditions. The following aspects are particularly important to me:

• When you come to us with your concerns, we act in close consultation with you in the way you give us the mandate.
• Individual problems often have structural causes. As a staff council, we are committed to making structures employee-friendly and improving working conditions in the long term.
• How we go about this depends on the issue in question. Possible instruments for improvement can be, for example, discussions with the department or service agreements. However, it may also be necessary to lobby politicians at Hessian level to bring about change.
• In my view, cooperation with the trade unions is of central importance here - they have more leeway and scope for action in many areas. As a member of ver.di, I am well networked throughout Hesse, and ver.di actively promotes a very helpful close exchange with other staff councils in Hesse.
• The trade unions negotiate the collective agreement with the state of Hesse. The staff councils are in turn tasked with monitoring the implementation of the collective agreement. Close cooperation between trade unions and staff councils is therefore obvious. It strengthens us all.
• The staff council has the right to support the trade unions in their work. Ensuring this is a major concern of mine. After all, the quality of the collective agreement depends crucially on the strength of the trade unions. The trade unions are also committed to ensuring adequate funding for universities - a basis for good working conditions.
