The programme enables female researchers with a doctorate and management experience who are currently working in industrial companies to research and teach as part of a visiting professorship at TU Darmstadt. Particularly in the technically focussed disciplines, this allows female role models to become visible and inspires women to take up top positions in science. Women from research and development-related departments in companies apply in a suitable field of work in the departments of Materials and Geosciences, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Computer Science.
The objectives are
- Make intersectional career paths transparent for women
- Increase the visibility of excellent women
- Provide insights into the everyday life of a professorship
- Connect female visiting professors with the academic community
- Establish role models for female students and academics
- Further development of the teaching programme in relation to industry-related research
- Expand cooperation between industry and university
- Testing an innovative approach with regard to an equality-orientated appointment policy
