Welcome to the Kassel Gender Equality Toolkit. This do-it-yourself toolkit is intended to support you in your departmental gender equality work. Here you will find information on projects and equality measures at the University of Kassel as well as other examples from different universities that can be used for your own further training or to inspire new ideas.

The toolkit is divided into five fields of action, which also represent the structure of the decentralized equality concepts: Teaching & Studies, Research, Graduate Support & Staff Development, Structural Measures and Organizational Culture. Here you can browse and be inspired. Please note that offers from other universities are provided as examples and are often not available to members of the University of Kassel. Offers from the University of Kassel are marked with “UNI KASSEL” above the heading.
Under the category "What can I do as ...? " category, you will find more specific suggestions on what opportunities you have in your professional role at the university, how you can start here or how you can continue your education and network.
The search function allows you to search specifically for equality measures. You can either use the filter function to narrow down measures by area, keyword, subject group or target group - or the full-text search to search for specific keywords. Try it out for yourself.

Structural Measures

This involves the sustainable anchoring of gender equality goals in institutional structures and processes. This includes committees, gender equality officers, guidelines and target agreements as well as the systematic collection and analysis of gender equality data and its use for evidence-based action planning.

Organisational Culture

Here you will find measures aimed at promoting an inclusive, appreciative working, study and research environment. These include awareness-raising and training courses on diversity, anti-discrimination and unconscious bias, as well as the recognition of diverse lifestyles and career paths.
