The Studierendenwerk Kassel offers free children's meals in the canteen for students' children via the "MahlZeit, Kinder!" ('MealTime, children') card.
Children up to the age of six can eat at the following locations
- Central canteen,
- Heinrich-Plett-Straße canteen,
- Wilhelmshöher Allee canteen,
- Mensa Kunsthochschule,
- Steinstraße canteen, Witzenhausen
can eat lunch free of charge. The children's lunch is served on a separate plate and can be chosen from the daily menu of the canteen.
At least one parent must be a student at the University of Kassel and present a certificate of enrolment and a birth certificate for the child. The "MahlZeit, Kinder!" card is valid for one year and can then be reissued - for the last time in the year in which the child turns six years old, but no longer than the child's 7th birthday.
Children whose parents are not students but are employed at the university or are guests can also take part in "MahlZeit, Kinder! They pay 2.50 euros per children's plate portion instead of the guest price.
