"durchstarten" for Newly Appointed Professors

Through its “durchstarten” program, the University of Kassel offers new professors targeted support as they take on their diverse administrative and leadership responsibilities. The program focuses in particular on financial and human resources management—two key areas of responsibility in which professors serve as both architects and decision-makers.

“durchstarten” consists of two practical online modules moderated by the Strategic Human Resources and Organizational Development Office and led by experienced Department Heads from the administration. You will be invited to participate via email following your appointment.

 

Objectives of the two workshops:

  • An overview of financial structures and processes at the University of Kassel
  • Confidence in handling issues related to personnel law and HR practices
  • Reflection on one’s own role as a leader in an academic context
  • Opportunities to share experiences and network with colleagues

  • Human resources management in academia: understanding roles, recruitment, and leading staff
  • Collaboration with administrative units: Responsibilities, processes, support services
  • Legal Framework: Fundamentals of labor law, employee participation, gender equality
