FAQ - CampusCard

For employees:

Delivery of the CampusCard can take up to 14 calendar days!

If you have not received your CampusCard for more than 14 calendar days, please contact the IT helpdesk.
If you are unable to collect your CampusCard from the IT helpdesk, please contact the IT service desk by telephone or with a ticket.

If your CampusCard is defective, please contact the IT helpdesk. Further information on what to do if your CampusCard is defective can be found on the page"Loss or defect".

Please be sure to bring your defective CampusCard to the IT Helpdesk, otherwise a loss fee of €15 will be charged.

Please block your card via the self-service first.

Please contact the IT helpdesk to issue a replacement card. Further information on how to proceed if you lose your CampusCard can be found on the page"Loss or defect".

Students will be charged a loss fee of €15. For guests/university-external persons the fee is €20. This can be paid cashless on site at the IT Helpdesk.
The loss fee is waived on presentation of a copy of a police report of theft (not a report of loss!).

Please understand that the loss fee cannot be refunded if the lost CampusCard turns up later.

The Deutschlandsemesterticket will not be printed on the CampusCard.

Until 30.04.24, the ticket on the CampusCard will also be valid in the NVV area for a transitional period. This is a goodwill gesture by the NVV if the ticket does not yet work on the smartphone. If you have any questions, please contact the AstA and refer to the general semester ticket information page.

Please also note the instructions for using the online ticket.

Use the recharging stations for this. You can find the locations on the Studierendenwerk website [external].

The autoload function [external] is available for cashless top-ups.

The available card balance is displayed when you pay with the card or when you insert the card into one of the top-up stations.

If you have any questions or problems with the CampusCard payment function, please contact the Studierendenwerk at < campuscard[at]studierendenwerk[dot]uni-kassel[dot]de >

Yes, this is possible via the following options:

  • with a valid library card, which can be applied for via the library
    • at the information desk of the Studierendenwerk in the Campus Center, the canteen status "student" can be entered
    • A valid student ID card is required
  • with a guest card
  • with a debit or credit card

    • in order to be able to eat with your card at the student price, you must inform our staff at the checkouts in the canteens and cafeterias that you are studying at another university. Then show your valid student ID without being asked.

Additional payment options can be arranged for groups of guests and participants in university events.

The contact person for this is the Studierendenwerk: https://www.studierendenwerk-kassel.de/essen-trinken/kartenservice/mensa-status

Please inform the Registrar's Office/Human Resources Department of the name change first.

Please come to the IT Helpdesk with your old CampusCard at the earliest one day after the change has been made. You will then receive a CampusCard with the updated data.

If possible, insert another card of the same format about halfway into the validator. Do not let go of the second card, but hold it firmly. The stuck Campuscard is then often ejected again.

If this does not help, please get in touch with one of these contact persons, depending on the validator concerned.

The University of Kassel does not provide any sleeves for storing the card.

The CampusCard must be stored carefully and treated similarly to a valid photo ID.
It is recommended that the CampusCard is not kept in the same compartment of the wallet as an embossed card (e.g. credit card) with protruding letters. Otherwise the embossing of the other card may scrape off the imprint of the CampusCard.

We also ask you not to use protective sleeves that contain a lot of plasticizers, as these will remove the imprint.

If the imprint on your card does wear off, please come to the IT Helpdesk with your CampusCard so that we can print you a new CampusCard free of charge.

If you are unable to collect your CampusCard in person, it is possible for a person authorized by you to collect the card on your behalf. Please note that a written power of attorney is required for this. You can download the relevant form under Downloads & Forms.

It is also necessary for the authorized person to present their own identity card in order to collect the CampusCard.

No. You keep your CampusCard for the entire duration of your studies.

To ensure that your card remains valid, you must update (validate) it every semester. The new validity period is printed on the card.

This is how validation works:

Log back in (re-registration complete).

Go to one of the validation stations on campus.

Insert your CampusCard into the device - the new validity imprint will be created automatically.

You can find an overview of all validation station locations here:
https://www.uni-kassel.de/go/validierung

If the CampusCard is lost, an administration fee will be charged for reissuing it:

Students pay 15 euros.

Staff members receive a replacement card free of charge.

For other persons (e.g. guests, external persons) the fee is 20 euros.

Important:
If your card has been stolen and you submit a theft report to the police, the replacement card will be issued free of charge - even for students.

Further information and the form for blocking or reissuing can be found here:
https://goto.uni-kassel.de/go/campuscard-verlustoderdefekt

If you have any questions or problems with the semester ticket (e.g. display or retrieval problems at https://ticket.astakassel.de), please contact the AStA directly: deutschlandticket[at]asta.uni-kassel[dot]de.
Further information on the semester ticket can be found on the Asta website.

If the error message appears during validation that the CampusCard still needs to be activated, this can be done at < https://campuscard.uni-kassel.de >. The instructions for activating the CampusCard can be found at: https://www.uni-kassel.de/go/cc-beantragung-aktivierung-sperrung

If your CampusCard has already been activated or another error message is displayed, please contact the IT Service Desk.

Please open the image on a PC/notebook and save it again. It is important that the image is saved as a .png file, not as a .jpeg file.

Some programs only change the metadata of the image, but do not actually rotate it. For example, the "Gimp" program can be used for this.

If the error cannot be corrected, please contact the Department of Studies and Teaching, Student Information. Your colleagues can upload the image to eCampus for you.

If, when trying to upload an image for your CampusCard, you receive an error message that your image does not meet the specifications, it is necessary to resize the desired image manually. The image section remains the same and the resolution is automatically limited. You can then upload the resized image.

To resize an image manually, you can use common image programs such as Paint.
Once you have opened the desired image in Paint, you can go to "Resize" in the top ribbon under "Image".
You can now adjust the image by percentage or pixels, but make sure that "Maintain aspect ratio" is activated so that the image is not distorted. Click on "OK" to apply the changes and save the image via "File" -> "Save as".

Please hand in the CampusCard you have found at one of the three collection points:

  • IT Helpdesk in the IT Service Center
  • IT help desk in the library
  • InfoPoint

The opening hours and locations of the two IT help desks can be found at: https://www.uni-kassel.de/its/kontakt-und-anfahrt
The contact details of the InfoPoint can be found at: https://www.uni-kassel.de/go/sicherheit

Alternatively, you can send the CampusCard by post to the IT Service Center (Mönchebergstraße 11, 34125 Kassel).
