Staff meeting 2025

On June 11, 2025, we held our first staff meeting of this term. The auditorium was well filled with around 250 colleagues - but we're sure more will come next time!
Our program was varied.
In addition to the report and welcomes, the agenda included the budget cuts, as well as the topics of abuse of power, the internal job placement market and service agreements in cases of conflict. This was followed by reports on the classification of the departmental secretariats and the working conditions of the cleaning staff.
You can download the inputs/slides on the respective topics below. Please note: This is only possible from the university network or via VPN.
The colleagues in attendance participated actively - both directly verbally and by submitting questions via a digital online tool.
Thank you very much for all the feedback, which we read very carefully. We would like to comment on the points that were mentioned several times.
Timing of the staff meeting:
Due to the dynamic negotiations on university finances, we had to postpone the staff meeting originally planned for May to June. However, the dates clashed with some committees and various public holidays. We tried to choose the best possible date among the unfavorable ones. Hopefully we will be able to stick to our preferred date next time.
Hybrid format:
The plan was to also offer the staff meeting in a hybrid format - this would have given colleagues from external locations in particular better opportunities to participate. However, a legal review by the department found that this was not in line with the Hessian Staff Representation Act. We are now having this clarified again by external legal experts.
Length of the staff meeting:
At just under four hours, the staff meeting was exceptionally long. Because of this, we sent out a detailed agenda - so that colleagues could choose which topics they were particularly interested in and attend the staff meeting accordingly (and, if necessary, only attend selected topics). However, in order to relax the program a little and to get into conversation with each other more often, we are considering holding two staff meetings a year in the future.
We are always happy to receive feedback on our work. Please write to us.
Best regards, your staff council.
