Objective

Networking and advocacy for employees in university secretariats

Brief description

FairNetztEuch! is a nationwide network by, for and with employees in university secretariats. 80 colleagues in 25 secretarial networks at 39 universities have organised themselves to encourage each other, strengthen each other, jointly assert demands, share experiences and pass on knowledge.
The nationwide network of university secretariats came together for the first time in 2019 at the first network meeting at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen. Organised by the bukof office, the bukof MTV Commission and the University of Göttingen, over 100 colleagues met to discuss their work. The result was the Göttingen Principles, which, in addition to greater appreciation at the universities, also emphasise the urgent need to upgrade the pay scale for work in university secretariats.
In 2022, the second nationwide network meeting of university secretariats was held at the University of Kassel under the motto "FairNetztEuch! 2.0 - Making work visible‘. The second nationwide network meeting of university secretariats at the University of Kassel followed on from the first meeting and the bukof campaign ’FairNetztEuch!" launched in 2020 - 2022. This meeting also made it clear that there is much to be done at universities to improve the working conditions for the employees in university secretariats, especially on a structural level and not as individual decisions.
The network's demands are
- Wage upgrading of work in university secretariats
- Updating the outdated job description of university secretariats
- Adaptation of job descriptions / job profiles to the actual tasks to be performed
- Recognising the independence of the work in university secretariats
- Appreciation for the valuable work in university secretariats
- Structural changes instead of individual decisions
