Objective

Overcoming gender stereotypes and reducing gender-specific study and career choices

Brief description

Role models of women and men characterise study and career choices to a large extent. This affects both the general decision in favour of an academic career and the choice of subject. In order to overcome these stereotypes, the University of Kassel takes part in Girls' and Boys' Day.
Girls' Day and Boys' Day is a nationwide orientation day for girls and boys to find out about careers and study programmes. It is sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The aim is to give girls and boys an insight into careers in which they are underrepresented.
