Requirement for admission

  1. Bachelor degree in Agricultural Sciences, Economics, Social Sciences, Humanities or a similar field of study and with a minimum of 180 ECTS-credit (equivalent).
  2. Students with a Bachelor degree in a related field must have passed professional and methodological courses worth (at least) 60 ECTS-credits in Agricultural Sciences, Economics, Social Sciences or Humanities. Students who do not fully satisfy these requirements can be admitted with the additional obligation to pass preparatory courses, as decided on a case-by-case basis by the admission board.

  3. Proof of sufficient English language proficiency by

    • previous studies conducted entirely in English, or
    • international language certificate of level C1 according to the Common Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF), or
    • international language certificate of level B2 according to the Common Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF) only if applicant worked minimum one year in an organisation where the communication is English within the last two years prior to the application. In this case, a letter from the organization regarding its office working language should be attached.

  4. A one-page letter in English that outlines the applicants' motivation to study in this program, personal experiences and expectations relevant to their further studies, as well as the long-term career goals that drive their application for a transdisciplinary Master program.

  1. 1.Application

    Documents

    • I check out the homepage of the study programme page about the required documents.
    • I check out the country notes on the uni-assist website: Country notes.
    • I read the uni-assist notes on sworn translations: Attestations and translations.
    •  I will have my respective documents translated into German or English.

    •  I obtain officially certified copies of certificates and translations.

    • I make digital copies of the original documents and certificates.

  2. 2.Ap­plic­a­tion

    • The application will first be formally examined: Have all documents been submitted? Are the formal requirements met?

    • Upon completion of the formal examination, the application is forwarded to the examination board of your chosen degree programme.

    • In the next step, the examination board checks whether the substantive requirements for admission are also met. The examination board decides on the equivalence of the subject matter, the acknowledgement of previous performance, it decides on admission and rejection and, if necessary, imposes conditions regarding content.

    • The examination board reports the result back to the Master's Office digitally.

    • Should it be discovered in the course of the procedure that documents are missing, the applicants will be informed of this by email. The email will state the deadline for submission.

    • Depending on the Master's programme, it may take up to six weeks before you receive the result. Please refrain from making any enquiries during this period.

     

  3. 3.Application

    uni-assist

    •  I will find information about the application procedure on the uni-assist website: "Apply". “How to apply”

    • If necessary, I take a look at the how-to webinars on the application procedure via uni-assist.

    If you are a prospective student (including Germans and EU citizens) with a first professional qualification from abroad, you must always apply via uni-assist. uni-assist is the German service point for international student applications and processes international student applications.

    It is not sufficient to upload your documents to the uni-assist portal. You must also transfer the application fee.

  4. 4.Application

    Pro­ced­ure

    • I wait for the results of the uni-assist test and, if necessary, I will submit further documents.

    uni-assist checks whether you meet the formal requirements for admission to study at the University of Kassel. You will receive the result after about 4-6 weeks by e-mail and by post. If the formal requirements are met, your data will be forwarded to the University of Kassel.

    If you do not meet the formal requirements for admission, your documents will not be forwarded to the University of Kassel.

    Procedure when the documents are available at the University of Kassel

  5. 5.Ac­cept­ance and visa

    • I receive a positive reply from the University of Kassel by mail and e-mail.

      • If necessary, I have to submit additional documents.
    • Do I need a visa? If yes, I can apply for it with the positive decision at the German embassy or a German consulate in my home country. To apply for a visa, I need the positive decision of the University of Kassel, proof of financing my studies and proof of health insurance.

     

    1. Prospective students from EU member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland generally do not need an entry visa. An identity card is sufficient for entry.
    2. Prospective students from all other non-EU countries need a visa to enter the country. You should apply for this as early as possible at the German Embassy or a German Consulate in your home country or country of residence. If you are accompanied by your spouse or children during your stay, it is advisable to submit the applications for you and your family members at the same time - even if your family only enters a few weeks after you. Detailed information on obtaining a visa
    3. Prospective students from Australia, Israel, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Korea and the USA do not require a visa for entry. For longer stays of more than three months, however, you need a residence permit. After entering Germany, you can apply for this at the respective aliens' registration office (Ausländerbehörde) in Germany.
