Objective

greater diversity among the professorships

Brief description

The initial discussions at the University of Kassel serve the purpose of strategic planning for appointment procedures and take place approximately two years before the planned reappointment of a professorship.

The following parties are involved in the initial discussions:

-> The Member of the Presidential Board responsible for the department
-> The responsible planner in the Development Planning Department
-> The Advisor for Appointment Matters
-> The central Women's and Equal Opportunities Officer

The following participate on behalf of the department:

-> The Dean
-> the Dean's Office Management
-> a person familiar with the content of the professorship (e.g., Designated Chair of the Appointment Committee)
-> the decentralized Women's and Equal Opportunities Officer

Topics include the focus of the professorship in research and teaching, the job advertisement text, actively approaching scientists, and the composition of the Appointment Committee. Special attention is also given to the situation regarding equality and the internationalization strategy.

Early initial discussions involving the Equal Opportunities Officer provide an opportunity to sensitize all participants to equality and diversity issues and to ensure fair procedures. The objective is to promote equal opportunities between the genders and to identify and avoid possible structural disadvantages at an early stage.
