Katt Both. The Bauhaus in Kassel | Reading "WE ARE MILLENIUM STARS. The Letters by Helena Syrkus"

As part of the exhibition "Katt Both. Bauhaus architect from Kassel", the artist duo Maja Wirkus and Eric Pries are presenting letters by the Polish architect and urban planner Helena Syrkus. She was a co-founder of the architectural group "Praesens" and a pioneering artist of Polish modernism. The correspondence, researched for the first time by WIRKUSPRIES and presented in excerpts as a reading, tells not only of the professional discourse but also of the socio-political conditions of the 1920s and 1930s, the period of the Second World War and the formation of the bloc after 1945. The letters, which also tell of Szymon Syrkus' imprisonment in Auschwitz and Helena Syrkus' internment in various prisons, have lost none of their fascination and conviction of being able to shape a better world.

Exhibition opening hours: Thursday to Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm. Closing day is March 8, International Women's Day. The event formats take place in the discursive exhibition space and are free of charge.
