If you would like a little distance from the lecture hall, you can live in Wehlheiden, Wilhelmshöhe or Vorderer Westen. Numerous boutiques, restaurants and pubs are hidden behind historic and modern facades, just waiting to be explored. But you can also find the odd gallery or concert venue here. Although the parks that are right on the doorstep are generally a little smaller, you can get to Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe and the Habichtswald recreation area all the quicker by streetcar and bus. Fresh, regional produce is available at the weekly market. Bargain hunters can find real treasures in second-hand stores of all kinds.

Party animals are best off on the Kassel "mile", Friedrich-Ebert-Straße. If you plan a pub crawl here, you won't have to worry about sore feet, as one opportunity follows the next.

The popular Gottschalkstraße with its small cafés, stores and the K19 and Schlachthof cultural centers borders directly on the Holländischer Platz campus. On warm summer evenings and between classes, you can meet up in Nordstadtpark or stroll along the Ahna across the Bleichwiesen meadows down to the banks of the Fulda. Those who don't shy away from the morbid charm can find peace and relaxation on a walk through the historic main cemetery.

If you are interested in sport or art, the south around Frankfurter Strasse is the right place for you. The Aue and Schönfeld Park offer plenty of space and beautiful views for varied jogging routes, quiet reading, picnics and games. There are also short distances to major events in the Auestadion stadium, boathouses and the university sports halls.

If you settle in the south, you can enjoy art and culture in passing, so to speak. Due to its proximity to the art college and the large student population, an active scene has developed here that ensures a lively neighborhood with unusual activities, events and initiatives.
