Prof. Dr. Sören Stumpf

PD Dr. Sören Stumpf has been Professor of German Linguistics with a focus on system-oriented linguistics at the University of Kassel since 1 May. After completing his doctorate in 2015 at the University of Trier in the field of formulaic language, he habilitated there in 2021 with a thesis on word formation in written and spoken German. Most recently, Stumpf worked as a senior academic advisor at LMU Munich and led the DFG project "Language in Conspiracy Theories" in cooperation with the University of Kassel. His research focuses on grammatical patterns in a variety of usage contexts. In Kassel, Stumpf would like to research language structures in the context of their embedding in social, media and cultural contexts and in this way arouse students' interest in a modern perspective on grammar. He is also particularly interested in international networking in research and teaching.
