Concert: PIANOPHIL | High Five

Under the theme “HIGH FIVE,” Uwe Volkmer—a pianist from Kassel and piano instructor at the University of Kassel—presents a piano recital in his “pianophil” series featuring five composers spanning the Classical period to the early modern era. Although the “high five” compositions are not rare, they are—despite their high quality—not among the usual staples of the concert circuit. They all share a classical style, transparency, elegance, and refinement, as well as an extremely positive, at times ecstatic and euphoric, underlying mood.

Mozart: Sonata No. 4 in E-flat major,
Beethoven: Sonata No. 30 in E major,
Debussy: “Images oubliées,”
Ravel: “Valses nobles et sentimentales,” and
Prokofiev: Sonata No. 5 in C major (late version)
