Prof. Dr. Amru Hussein
Image: Amru HusseinDr. Amru Hussein took over the professorship for Analysis of Partial Differential Equations at the Institute of Mathematics on March 1. After studying at the Universities of Duisburg and Bonn from 2003 to 2008, Amru Hussein received his doctorate from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in 2013. This was followed by consultancy work in the banking sector and a postdoctoral position at the Technical University of Darmstadt, which he held from 2015 to 2019, as well as several research visits to Japan. Between 2019 and 2025, Hussein was a junior professor of Mathematics at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern.
In Kassel, as at his previous stations, he investigates partial differential equations and their applications in engineering and the natural sciences. He concentrates on researching the qualitative behavior of solutions to partial differential equations with "pen and paper". He uses a functional analytical approach to better understand elliptic and parabolic problems.
