Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peggy Freudenberg took over the professorship for Building Physics in the Faculty of Architecture, Urban Planning, Landscape Planning (ASL) on March 1, 2026. She completed her doctorate at the Institute of Building Climatology at the Technical University of Dresden on the development of a simulation-based planning method to improve indoor climate stability, investigated on real hospital buildings. Her research is characterized by international third-party funded projects such as HESMOS and ISES (FP7) for simulation-based building and life cycle analysis and RIBuild (Horizon 2020) for the hygrothermal evaluation of interior insulation systems in existing buildings. She was a deputy professor for technical building equipment and climate-friendly construction at the TU Dresden and subsequently a professor of civil engineering at the International University (IU) Leipzig. At the same time, she works as a consulting engineer and manages the engineering office Bauklimatik Freudenberg, with which she developed the technical basis of the Saxon Heat Atlas for the Saxon Energy Agency (SAENA), among others. At the University of Kassel, she intends to further develop building physics as an integral part of architectural design, research and teaching processes and to focus on climate-resilient and sustainable construction.
