Sexualized violence is still a taboo subject in the field of sport too. Sport and sports activities are often associated with familiarity, emotionality, physical closeness, touching, observation and comments on physical behavior. The reason for this is the social closeness in sport, which is characteristic of it, makes it special and is even desired to some extent. However, this results in a particularly sensitive approach. The boundaries of what is considered disrespectful, hurtful or even violent are defined individually. While one person may see specific behavior in sport as normal, another person may see it as transgressive. Even the form of address or certain rituals in sport can be perceived as transgressive. Special attention and respectful interaction are therefore required.
Adults involved in sport seem to find it particularly difficult to address experiences of sexualized violence. As a result, a culture of talking about experiences of violence and a culture of listening has not yet been established in sport. To counter this, a series of events on the topic was organized in the winter semester 23/24.
