Objective

To support universities and research institutions with evidence-based strategies and practical tools to systematically prevent gender-based violence

Brief description

The UniSAFE Toolkit is the result of a comprehensive European research project (2021-2024) carried out under the EU Horizon 2020 programme. The objective of the project was to investigate the extent, causes and effects of gender-based violence in higher education and research. Based on a study in 2022 at 46 institutions, a well-founded concept was developed, which was structured in the so-called 7P model (Policy, Prevalence, Prevention, Protection, Prosecution and internal disciplinary measures, Provision of services and Partnerships).

The toolkit was developed to transfer these research findings into practice. It provides universities and research institutions with a variety of practical tools, guidelines and templates to prevent gender-based violence, respond appropriately and promote sustainable institutional change. It supports the development of structural measures and the evaluation or further development of existing strategies.
