Statement on the delayed end of a student action on the occasion of documenta fifteen (3/2023)

On the occasion of documenta fifteen, students from the General Student Committee of the University of Kassel (AStA), which was in office at the time, had a Korean "peace statue" erected in front of the student house. The permission granted by the University of Kassel, which had already been extended by several months and concluded for a limited period from the outset, has now finally expired.

The loan from the Korea-Verband e.V., which had also financed the installation, was professionally dismantled today (March 9, 2023) and stored carefully protected until the association collects it as the owner.

Works of art are implemented permanently at the University of Kassel if they are continuously accompanied by teaching and scientific projects, they have a connection to the location in terms of content and the Senate and Presidential Board decide on them together. This was the case, for example, with the student-initiated "Path of Remembrance", but not with the statue.

On the occasion of documenta fifteen, students erected a Korean "peace statue" in front of the student house on university ground.
