Workshop times: Wed 08.05. - Fri 10.05. 2019, 10 am - 6 pm each day

Workshop content

• Definitions of rhetoric
• Speech genres and their goals
• Rhetorical tools and goals
• The five rhetorical areas as steps in the development of a speech
  • Selecting information in a targeted and target group-oriented manner (inventio)
  • Structuring content sensibly (dispositio)
  • Designing a speech in a linguistically effective way (elocutio)
  • Create a supporting keyword concept (memoria)
  • Presenting a speech effectively (actio)
• Using posture, facial expressions, gestures, eye contact and voice effectively
• Dealing with stage fright
• Rhetorical principles: Comprehensibility, effectiveness and appropriateness

Proof of performance

• Presentation of several free speeches during the workshop
• Written reflection along key questions on rhetoric
