Propaedeutic Spanish A2-B1

Welcome to the Institute of Romance Studies at the University of Kassel!

It is important that you are able to use Spanish at level B1 after the first semester in order to successfully complete the individual modules of the language practice as well as to participate in the courses of the scientific disciplines.

I do not yet have a B1 language level.

If you do not yet have a B1 language level at the start of your studies, we will support you with special practical language courses, which are known as propaedeutic courses and are taught exclusively by native speakers. Within the first winter semester, you will reach level B1 through a combination of block courses and regular weekly sessions.

I have a higher language level than B1.

If you have a language level higher than B1, you can join the practical language course that is right for you. To do so, you must take a placement test. Registration is not necessary.

If you can already demonstrate level B1, it is possible to attend the courses of the first module of language practice directly.

Whether you attend the preliminary course, take the placement test for a higher level or start directly into the Module 1 courses with B1, you will learn everything you need to know about timetabling, your modules and the course schedule during the introductory days.

Dates for the introductory events will be available on your degree program's website by mid-August at the latest:
