soundcheck 76: "Key to the language of the world. The end of the great distance

Anyone who has grown up is probably familiar with the silence of the world (Camus), the strangeness of a dead universe in which our life and speech can only appear like an absurd, tiny island.
In Messiaen's cycle Harawi - Chant d'amour et de mort, this silence is, on the one hand, suspended and, on the other, reinforced by the promise of the beloved. This promise transforms heaven and earth into a paradise of synaesthetic metaphors, it points to the divine mystery of stars and molecules, but it also reinforces the fear of loneliness and the certainty of death. We must ask for a promise and love that makes things speak, or rather makes us understand their language and overcome death.
