Projects from the "knowledge repository" present their research subject - in short lectures, mini-workshops or interventions. Dialogue and exchange with visitors is expressly encouraged.

Dr. Tobias Pohlmann: Open Access - research results free and for all
Over the decades, academic publishing has developed into a highly commercial and extremely profitable market dominated by a few major players in the publishing industry. Why is this the case? And is this really in the interests of the public and science itself? This lecture sheds light on why scientific research results should be freely available and how the Kassel University Library promotes this goal.

Dr. Brigitte Pfeil-Amann: Historical heritage digitally
For more than 10 years, the Kassel University Library/LMB has been promoting the digitization of its most valuable old holdings. Through its digital online archive ORKA, it makes the digitized material available free of charge and under free licenses not only to researchers and teachers, but also to interested private individuals. After a simple registration, everyone has the opportunity to independently add further information on individual objects via a so-called 'crowdsourcing' module.

Dr. Timo Kirschberger: Long-term memory for the region
As the oldest part of the Kassel University Library, the State Library preserves the region's written heritage. The old collection of historical manuscripts and old prints is supplemented by the constantly growing collection of regional literature. As part of the so-called deposit copy right, the library also receives a copy of every publication from North Hesse, from novels and daily newspapers to maps and club publications - and increasingly also in digital form. The State Library indexes all these collections, preserves them for permanent use by the general public and thus forms the long-term memory of the region.
