Prof. Dr. Sebastian Lins

Dr. Sebastian Lins took over the professorship for Information Systems, in particular Enterprise Systems and Platforms, on May 1. He studied Information Systems at the University of Cologne and received the ACM SIGMIS Doctoral Dissertation Award in 2022 for his dissertation on "Unveiling and enhancing the Effectiveness of Information System Certifications". He then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, where he was, among other things, team leader and operational Project Leader of various research projects.

Lin's research focuses on the responsible use of trustworthy information systems and platforms based on technologies such as AI and cloud/fog/edge computing. He investigates how organizations and their employees use (novel) information systems and platforms, taking into account the principles of digital responsibility. A central concern of his research is to strengthen trust in new technologies in order to reduce uncertainty and promote willingness to use them.

At the University of Kassel, Sebastian Lins is responsible for the Coordinator of the new degree program in Information Systems and is particularly interested in enabling students to engage in research-based learning.
