Prof. Dr. Yousef Heider

On September 1, 2025, Dr. Yousef Heider took over the professorship for Artificial Intelligence in Mechanics. Prior to this, he was a senior engineer at the Institute of Mechanics of Structures and Computational Mechanics at Leibniz Universität Hannover from October 2023 and worked as a senior academic advisor and team leader of the "Multifield Mechanics" Research Group at the Institute of General Mechanics at RWTH Aachen University from 2014 to 2023. In 2021, he habilitated in the field of mechanics on the topic of "Multi-field and multi-scale computer-aided fracture mechanics and machine-learning material modeling". From 2018 to 2019, he was a visiting researcher at Columbia University, USA. His teaching and research at the University of Kassel focuses on data-driven and machine learning-based modeling and approaches in material and structural mechanics. In addition, topics such as inverse material design and Physics-informed machine learning are of great importance.
