46th Federal Congress "Law.Power.Family." of the German Association of Women Lawyers e.V.

Current family law no longer reflects the realities of life for many people in Germany. As part of the 46th djb Federal Congress of the German Women's Lawyers' Association (Deutscher Juristinnenbund e.V.), under the title "Law. Power. Family.", central reform requirements will be placed at the center of the debate.

The congress will take place on the premises of the University of Kassel in Moritzstraße 18. The opening ceremony will take place on September 11 at the Federal Social Court in Kassel. The djb 2025 Marie-Elisabeth Lüders Science Award will be presented in the Ständesaal of the Landeswohlfahrtsverband Hessen.

The congress will discuss how contemporary law responds to the "family" context. Are real-life concepts of family reflected, are burdens and risks fairly distributed and are violence and abuse of power effectively prevented? How can family law be designed in such a way that it fulfills constitutional equality requirements, safeguards diverse care constellations and effectively protects people affected by violence? What the various topics of family law have in common is that they are relevant to society as a whole and that gender issues unfold and are negotiated as issues of power. The Commission for Family, Inheritance and Civil Law is responsible for the congress theme. Family law is currently a focus topic of the djb.

The 46th djb Federal Congress of the German Women's Lawyers' Association is sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.

The event will be held in German.
