Fast cycle link: Mombachstraße will be closed

Construction work on the cycle highway between Kassel University and Vellmar is progressing. From mid-March to the end of May, there will be significant restrictions in the Mombachstraße/Fiedlerstraße junction area, which will also temporarily affect access to the parking area at the Science Park.

Mombachstraße will be fully closed to bicycle and car traffic in the entire construction area (see illustration) from March 9, 2026 until probably the end of May 2026. Due to the subsoil conditions, no temporary lane will be available in Mombachstraße.

The Mombachstraße/Fiedlerstraße junction is also part of the construction site. However, in this section, work is only being carried out on the bound superstructure. Therefore, all traffic to the parking areas next to Science Park will be routed via Fiedlerstraße along Nordstadtpark.

Please note: Asphalting work will be carried out in the Fiedlerstraße/Mombachstraße area on two days during the above-mentioned period. On these two days (one day probably at the end of April, another day probably in mid-May), it will therefore generally not be possible to access or drive through via Fiedlerstraße. The parking lot at the end of Mombachstraße cannot be accessed on these days. The exact days that will be affected will be announced in advance.

Fiedlerstraße can be accessed from out of town via Holländische Straße/Henkelstraße. Towards the city center, access is possible via Holländische Straße/Eisenschmiede.
