Erasmus+ personal mobility for teaching purposes (STA)

Erasmus+ enables research staff and faculty members at the University of Kassel to undertake teaching assignments abroad. On this page, you will find important information about the requirements and funding for these so-called staff mobilities for teaching assignments (STA), as well as a checklist for planning and carrying out your stay. Please note our new application deadline of at least 6 weeks before the start of your stay.

  • The following employees of the University of Kassel are eligible for funding:
    • Professors and lecturers with a contractual relationship with the University of Kassel
    • Adjunct instructors with contracts for services
    • Professors emeritus and retired faculty members
    • Research staff
  • The stay must take place as part of a business trip
  • There is a valid Erasmus+ agreement with the host institution (university, college)
  • The recipient may not have their primary residence in the host country
  • Staff from foreign companies and organizations may be invited to the University of Kassel for teaching purposes
  • The planned stay will take place in an Erasmus+ program country
    AND there is a valid Erasmus+ agreement with the host institution (university, college)
  • The stay includes at least 8 teaching hours per week
    OR 4 teaching hours + 4 hours of curriculum development per week
  • Funding duration
    2-5 days (however, the stay can be longer)

 

  • Composition
    The funding consists of a lump sum for the stay and a lump sum for travel expenses:

      *   Distance is calculated using the Distance Calculator 
      ** "Green Travel" allowance for arrival and departure by sustainable means of transport (e.g., bus, train, carpool, bicycle) plus additional travel days


 

  • Interrail Pass
    • Participants have the opportunity to purchase a discounted Interrail Pass
    • Can be used for the outward and return journey, as well as trips in the host country and neighboring countries

       

  • Any course or participation fees incurred are not funded separately, but can be paid from the lump sums
  • Participants with additional financial requirements due to
    • Taking along child(ren)
    • Chronic illnesses
    • GdB of at least 20
  • Applications must be submitted at least 3 months before the start of the trip
  • It is best to contact us in good time!

Checklist for Your Stay

  1. 1.Informing

    • Find out for yourself about University of Kassel’s Erasmus+ partner universities
    • Contact the desired institution
    • Work with your colleagues at the desired institution to develop a teaching plan for your stay

     

  2. 2.Application

    • Please contact the Erasmus+ University Coordination Office (erasmus[at]uni-kassel[dot]de) well in advance
    • Consideration of the application deadline of at least 6 weeks before the start of the mobility
    • Complete the online application form
    • Funding approval is subject to available funds and the number of applications

    The Erasmus+ team will respond to the funding application within approximately two weeks

  3. 3.Before Your Stay

    • Documents to be submitted for funding
        • Mobility Agreement
        (template will be sent by the Erasmus+ team)
        • Grant Agreement
        (template will be sent by the Erasmus+ team)
        • PDF of the approved business trip application
             (application in FIORI Business Travel Management)

    As soon as all documents have been submitted, the grant will be transferred to your salary account

  4. 4.Nach dem Aufenthalt

    • Letter of Confirmation to confirm the duration of your stay at the host institution
      (template will be sent automatically by e-mail)
    • EU-Survey
      (invitation to participate will be sent automatically by e-mail)
    • Business trip statement
      (Erasmus+ funding is settled as a lump sum, however, a business trip statement must still be created as a "0-cost" statement)
