Goal: Combat Readiness—The German Defense Industry in Transition

June 30, 2026: Lecture and discussion with Felix Jaitner (University of Bielefeld) on the German defense industry, with a focus on Northern Hesse.

The Civil Clause was enshrined in the University of Kassel’s constitution in 2013 and directs research, development, teaching, and academic studies toward civilian purposes. On July 1, the University Senate is scheduled to vote on a revised version of the civil clause that no longer explicitly mentions the clear orientation toward civilian purposes. As part of this event, we aim to create a space for discussion and scholarly reflection on this topic.
