Responsibility and Science: Presidential Board Launches a Discussion Process on the University Constitution

At the initiative of the University Senate, the Presidential Board of the University of Kassel is organizing a series of discussions University’s. Under the motto “We Need to Talk” potential changes to the preamble of the University’s constitution will be discussed openly with the university community. The preamble is also known as the “civil clause.” Two events are planned as part of this series, to be held on October 13 and 14, 2026.

October 13, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Central Canteen (Zentralmensa) on Holländischer Platz
Part 2 | Our Research and Teaching: What Serves Peace?
October 14, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Central Canteen (Zentralmensa) at Holländischer Platz

The content of these events builds upon one another. Therefore, we recommend attending both events if possible. A concluding discussion and the University Senate’s decision on the civil clause are scheduled for November 4, 2026.

The voices and perspectives of the university community are of great importance for this decision. The discussion events mentioned above offer you the opportunity to actively shape the opinion-forming process at the university.
